It is important that parents play with their own children
In September 2021, together with a few partners Michele Renna, bank manager and game inventor, launched Giochi Tarandus fortified by the success of a game he had developed in 2018 and published by Giochi Preziosi in June 2019 – Dieci (Ten), about the football world. Renna became keen on games as he tried to shift his son’s attraction to an alternative entertainment from what proposed by displays.
“The first product by Giochi Tarandus was Orexis, a board game for the family about daily life, aiming at reliving the social experience of the COVID period”, says Renna, managing director. “In the second year we released the party game Frasando, a really quick game: you draw a card with six words and a card showing a character with whom you have to identify yourself for the 30 seconds shown by the hourglass, using the terms that you have obtained by chance. At the moment, it is our most successful product. In July 2023 we added Por4, the first card game in the world about padel tennis, a sport which has become popular in Italy: the game was well received, proportionately with a start-up’s size”.
Renna plans to create a versatile catalogue; “It is necessary in order to access the different online and offline distribution channels. Right now we are only present on the Italian market, but we have checked there is potential abroad, especially in France. However, besides the commercial prospects, the main issue for me remains the importance of playing with one’s own children, as I told at the TEDx event on April 1st, 2023 (see here)”.
