Unique wooden models for assembling
Meltech is run by young entrepreneurs who distribute the Ugears models in the Italian marketplace on an exclusive basis.
“Ugears produces unique kits which allow assembling self-propulsive mechanical models and educational toys”, explain Pablo Melidoni, owner of Meltech, and Sabrina Melidoni, sales manager. “All models are made in wood coming from sustainable sources and there is no need either for batteries or for any other external energy source since they are set in motion by rubber bands, gears, cranks and gravity. Ugears models stand out because they are designed for assembling without glue and because they embody simple engineering principles which make assembling an educational and – at the same time – gratifying experience. Some models are inspired by real life prototypes while others represent the original revisiting of historical mechanisms manufactured at excellent engineering levels”.
Some Ugears products have proven especially successful: “Among the best-sellers there are the Windstorm Dragon, the Carousel, the Drift Cobra Racing Car, the Aero Clock, licensed models such as the Harry Potter Quidditch Pinball, NASA-approved space vehicles and the Smart Line (intermediate category between classic models and mini items)”, say Pablo and Sabrina Melidoni.
